Laura Huang is the author of Edge: Turning Adversity into Advantage. Laura is the MBA Class of 1954 Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. Prior to her position at Harvard, she was a highly regarded assistant professor of management at Wharton. Her research examines interpersonal relationships and implicit bias in entrepreneurship and in the workplace.
Laura is the creator of #FindYourEdge, an initiative dedicated to addressing inequality and disadvantage through personal empowerment. Her award-winning research has been featured in the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, and Nature, and she was named one of the 40 Best Business School Professors Under the Age of 40 by Poets & Quants. Laura holds an MS and BSE in electrical engineering, both from Duke University, an MBA from INSEAD, and a PhD from the University of California, Irvine.
In this episode, Stew and Laura talk about how hard work actually doesn’t speak for itself, and that success is rarely just about the quality of our ideas or our effort. Instead, achieving success hinges on how well we shape others' perceptions -- of our strengths, certainly, but also our flaws.
